The fine gentlemen at Corona Cigar Company in Orlando, FL turned me onto this one Saturday morning as I was browsing around the store looking for something new to smoke. As we walked around the store looking at the recent arrivals and shooting the shit, one of the guys grabbed a 10 Gauge Super Shot and said he hadn’t smoked one but had heard good things. I’ve never smoked anything from the Viaje line but I am always looking for new smokes to try so I picked up a few, intending to smoke one right then and let the others sit in the humidor for awhile. It was early in the morning so I grabbed a cappucino from the Corona bar and sat down to see what was what.
Chop, light with a couple matches and whoa! I didn’t really know what to expect from such a small cigar but it packed a serious punch right from the beginning. The initial pull on this shotgun shell sized smoke produced what I can only describe as a tangy plum taste. A couple more slow pulls and the plum just kept lingering on the tip of my tongue, mixed with a full helping of white pepper. I knew at that point that I was in for an interesting journey…but I didn’t expect what actually happened next.
As I got into the 2nd 3rd of this smoke (doesn’t take long), an unmistakable flavor profile began to present itself…I’m going to tell you now that I began to taste Apple Jacks. Yes, those Apple Jacks…a is for apple, j is for jacks, cinnamon toasty Apple Jacks. The Viaje Super Shot has an earthy, toasted cinnamon and tangy green apple flavor that will make you keep licking your lips and retrohaling so much that you begin to look silly.
This little cigar packs some serious and unique flavors. We highly recommend it if you can still find some and the packaging is bad ass too.
