Drew Estate announces the release of Herrera Estelí Miami

Miami-Box (1) Friday, July 22, 2016 — Miami, FL – Drew Estate announced today the release of Herrera Estelí Miami as a line extension to the Herrera Estelí Brand. The new cigar will be displayed in Drew Estate’s booth (Booth #2403) at the IPCPR Convention and Tradeshow held July 24 – 28, 2016 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Willy Herrera known for his signature Cubanesque blending style was recruited to join Drew Estate in 2011, after running the El Titan de Bronze factory since the late 90s. The factory is known for being one of the few remaining hand made cigar factories in the United States and employs only Level 9 rollers from Cuba who continue to manufacture cigars in traditional Cuban style, including tubing the filler and finishing with a triple cap.

Willy spent the first 3 years at Drew Estate, predominantly in Estelí, Nicaragua adapting to working at La Gran Fabrica Drew Estate, a factory with access to some of the most innovative and diverse black tobaccos in the world. In 2013, Drew Estate released the Herrera Estelí Brand, a medium bodied, spicy, cubanesque cigar, and followed up in 2014 the release of Herrera Estelí Norteño, a full-bodied maduro, as his sophomore release.

Miami-SingleThe new Herrera Estelí Miami debuts in a 5 ¾ x 48 corona vitola packaged in 10 count boxes with an MSRP of $130.00 per box. The blend features an Ecuadorian Habano Oscuro Wrapper, Ecuadorian Sumatra Binder, and Dominican and Nicaraguan Fillers. The unique attribute of the new release is that it is produced at El Titan de Bronze Factory on Calle Ocho in Little Havana, Miami, Florida.

When asked about the new cigar, Drew Estate Master Blender Willy Herrera stated, “The journey at Drew Estate has taken me to new countries, and almost every state in the union. After 5 years, it was time to come home and work on a project where it all began for me. Going back to my roots and in my home where I was brought up has been such a blessing.”

HE-Tray-_-BundlesIn addition to the new Herrera Estelí Miami, the Herrera Estelí line will offer new packaging configurations including a Display Tray and refill bundles in the core Herrera Esteli Vitolas including the Herrera Esteli Toro, Piramide Fino, Lonsdale, Robusto, and Short Corona.

Belatto-La-Barba-One-and-Only-bands-white-feature

In April of this year La Barba announced that they entered into an agreement with “Down and Back LLC” which is synonymous with The Caldwell Cigar Company. Down and Back will now handle all of La Barba’s Distribution and importing leaving time for its founder, Tony Bellatto to focus on the highly anticipated “blue project” which is being named “One and Only.”

barba2The “One and Only” is an undisclosed blend that was created at the Tabacalera William Ventura factory in the Dominican Republic, and boasts artwork from Jade Rivera, a prominent artist located in Miami. When asked about the artist Tony said, “Jade is from Lima, Peru and Robert Introduced me to his artwork about 3 years ago and I’ve always loved his style, especially his portraits. So it seemed like a natural fit for us to use him for the artwork.”

Barba1500 boxes of the “One and Only” will be released at the 2016 IPCPR trade show, and will be available to select retailers nationwide along with a re-branding of the La Barba “Red” which will now be produced at the Ventura factory using a blend that will stay true to the original intended palate, and will be comprised of primarily Dominican tobacco.

When Hoochly asked Tony about the details on the One and Only  he said “We cannot disclose the blend at the moment but  what I can tell you is that The One and Only will be a full bodied, spicy and creamy cigar. It’s a 6×52 Toro extra and will come in 10 count boxes. The retails price will be $12.50”

The La Barba “purple” will also undergo some minor design and packaging changes but the blend itself will remain the same. Down and Back will also be distributing Bellatto’s other brand “Siempre” a brand that Tony and his father developed along side Robert Caldwell and Henderson Ventura.

Foundation Cigar Company Releases The Tabernacle, ft. CT Broadleaf Wrapper & Artisanal Nicaraguan Fillers

FoundationLogo600

July 13, 2016 – Estelí, NICARAGUA – The Tabernacle is Foundation Cigar Company’s newest super premium cigar, boasting a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper and some of Nicaragua’s finest fillers. It is a combination of tastes that calls on founder Nicholas Melillo’s roots in the Connecticut River Valley and also his work with the finest artisanal tobacco batches in Nicaragua.

The Tabernacle“I want to show my love for Connecticut Broadleaf,” says Melillo. “I was born in New Haven where, at the turn of the century, there were many cigar factories.”

Also wanting to continue showcasing the flavors of northern Nicaragua, Melillo blended The Tabernacle at AJ Fernandez’s factory in Estelí.

“AJ grows some of his tobacco on the farm, La Soledad, where I lived on when I first moved to Estelí in 2003. I know firsthand that AJ’s farm is blessed with the perfect location for growing filler tobaccos. He has incredible tobacco inventories and gave me full access to some of his best leaf for this project.”

The Tabernacle box tells the story of the cigar’s name. The artwork features an image of none other than Haile Selassie, 225th King of Abyssinia, whose lineage traces directly to King Solomon and the Queen of Sheba. The reference to “tabernacle” is as a container for the Ark of the Covenant.”

unnamed (1)“They call me ‘Chief of the Broadleafs’ for a reason,” Melillo continues. “I have been working closely with farmers in Connecticut for over ten years. Broadleaf is more than tobacco for me. It is something sacred.”

On the outside, this cigar uses a CT Broadleaf wrapper, selected by Melillo for this project two years ago.

“AJ Fernandez has been meticulously fermenting this broadleaf wrapper and the combination of both of our passions for tobacco is dangerous.”

unnamedThe Tabernacle also uses a San Andreas Mexico binder and filler from Jamastran Valley in Honduras, plus the Esteli and Jalapa Valley in Nicaragua. The Tabernacle will be released nation wide July 25th The line will have a retail price of $9.00 – $13.00 and offered in the following sizes:

1792 Distillery Releases a New Limited Edition Full Proof Bourbon

1792-distillery

BARDSTOWN, KENTUCKY (May 17, 2016) – A stout 125 full proof bourbon is the latest limited edition release in the 1792 Bourbon line up.  Bottled at the same proof it was originally entered into the barrel, the bourbon was distilled, aged, and bottled at the historic Barton 1792 Distillery.

New oak barrels were filled with 125 proof distillate in the fall of 2007 and left to age in Warehouses E, N, and I for eight and a half years. Warehouse I is one of the oldest warehouses at Barton 1792 Distillery. All of these warehouses are seven stories high, metal clad, with concrete bottom floors, and windows all the way around the outside, allowing some direct sunlight inside.

1792 Full Proof BottleAfter the barrels were emptied, the bourbon underwent a distinct filtering process, forgoing the typical chill filtration, and instead was only passed through a plate and frame filter.  This allowed the bourbon to maintain a robust 125 proof for bottling, as well as the rich and bold flavor. The aroma is powerful – with vanilla and dried cherries notes.  The first taste is intense as it meets the tongue, oaky and full bodied, but continues with flavors of caramel and jam-like fruit, before an enduring finish.

This is the fourth limited edition release of 1792 Bourbon expressions, the Full Proof joins previous releases of Sweet Wheat, Port Finish, and Single Barrel Bourbons. Although the 1792 Full Proof Bourbon is very limited in quantities, it will be released annually for the next few years. The 1792 Full Proof Bourbon will be available at retail starting in late May. Suggested retail pricing is $44.99.
